What is a Nationwide Distribution?

Nationwide distribution is the way goods travel from one domestic address to another. It forms a core part of how business gets done in the UK and beyond. Because pallets are standard sizes, it’s simple to book a consignment and have your goods collected and transported to their final destination.

As technology is always advancing, we’re now able to operate transport networks more efficiently than ever before. Goods are picked up from one location and taken to a central hub for processing. This allows local operators to specialise in just a few towns or postcodes. This is much more economical as there’s less overlap of truck journeys. And this method of nationwide distribution is better for the planet.

No matter what your consignment is; provided it is palletised, we can ship it anywhere within the UK for a no-haggle flat fee. You’ll have confidence your shipment is safe with complete end-to-end tracking along its transit. And when your shipment arrives at its destination, you’ll get a confirmation for your records.

About our distribution network

We’re part of The Pallet Network or TPN. Over 100 members feed into the network, offering a centralised hub in each of their coverage areas. All consignments are tracked via the TPN Connect transit software platform for consistent, end-to-end monitoring. TPN recently won Pallet Network of the Year at the FTA Multimodal Awards 2019 at the NEC, which speaks to their excellent quality and service.

Unlike many networks, TPN can also handle bulky and oversized freight during the day. This means your unusual pallets are given complete attention by a team of expert handlers. You’ll track the whole journey through the TPN Connect platform for peace of mind. Their dedicated hub near Preston can handle any consignment. It boasts 200+ HGV parking bays, state of the art CCTV and undercover load checking areas, so you know your goods are in safe hands.

The Hallam express Fleet

We’ve been handling large and small consignments for years. Our participation in The Pallet Network allows us access to a domestic and international range. When you work with us, you can benefit from the following haulage options across our fleet of 13.6-metre curtain-sided trailers:

● Full load transport – we can offer significant savings on return transport journeys
● Groupage transport – we can combine several separate consignments travelling to the same destination for reduced fares
● Part-load export – we can store goods domestically and consolidate consignments for export

Plus we’re committed to your satisfaction by providing the following services as standard:

● Start the request on TPN Connect and track the consignment online
● Premium scan and weigh technology at our central hub
● Advanced tracking technology & delivery confirmation via the TPN Connect transit software
● Trucks are equipped with tail-lifts for easy pickup and delivery.

Once you get access to our transit software, booking future collections is easy. You’ll be able to scan and print your own barcodes. Plus you can arrange transport directly within the hub. This means, once you’re set up in the system, we’re your long-term partner.

What happens on delivery?

We operate a kerbside delivery for all pallets. This means your goods are delivered to the nearest flat and hard surface at the destination address. We’ll never leave a parcel on unsteady gravel or behind a locked gate. Your recipient will sign for the parcel and take over ownership of the consignment from that point.

What if my pallet is oversized?

We have special services for oversized freight. Our partner, TPN offers TPN XL – a dedicated, capacity-managed service for unusual or bulky palletised freight. Innovatively, they have a two-phase system for freight. Standard palletised freight is handled at night and bulky freight is handed during the day by a dedicated team. This gives it the expertise it requires to deliver it within pre-arranged windows.
